Stratford’s Energy and Environment Committee is looking for some help in its ongoing efforts to protect native plants and promote biodiversity in our parks system.
On Friday (May 10), the committee will be working along the north shore of Lake Victoria to remove weeds that threaten to overwhelm the native plants that have been established there.
If you can help, meet at 9 a.m. at the north side parkland on William Street near the base of James Street. Feel free to bring along tools like gloves, garden fork, spade, pruner or garden knife. Buckets, wheelbarrows or tarps on which to pile the weeds would be useful as well.
Weeding will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, but volunteers are welcome to come and go as they are able.
